The AIT team led by Dr. Ho Huu Loc, Assistant Professor at WEM, together with the HEAD Foundation, Singapore, organized a workshop entitled “Crafting Relevant and Impactful Sustainability Lessons” at Can Tho University, Viet Nam. The event aimed to equip high-school teachers with the knowledge, skills, and deposition necessary to integrate sustainability education into their classrooms successfully. Through a series of engaging activities and thought-provoking sessions, the workshop promised to empower educators as agents of change in their communities.
In the workshop, the AIT team provided an in-depth overview, highlighting the vital role ecosystem services play in maintaining ecological balance. The educators were engaged in a hands-on activity, identifying threats faced by the Mekong Delta’s ecosystem and brainstorming suitable solutions for ecosystem service restoration. Also, they eagerly embraced the concept of nature-based solutions (NBS) and their role in sustainable development and climate change mitigation. Through informative sessions and inspiring examples, educators gained a comprehensive understanding of how NBS could be applied to address environmental issues in different communities. Also, they showcased their newfound knowledge by identifying appropriate NBS for various regions within the Mekong Delta, explaining their implementation strategies, and highlighting the crucial role NBS plays in achieving sustainable development.
The workshop concluded with a gallery walk, where educators displayed their innovative lesson ideas, inspired by the resources shared throughout the event. Reflective learning was at the heart of this session, as teachers absorbed constructive feedback, strengthening their teaching practices and personal growth.
