Dr. Hung Tao Shen and Hayley Shen donated a total of $10,000 for the purchase of two units LISST Acoustic Backscatter Sensor (ABS) to the Water Engineering and Management (WEM) laboratory. LISST-ABS is a single-point acoustic backscatter sensor which measures the concentration of particles suspended in water. The equipment can be used for field measurements of Total Suspended Solids (TSS), transport rate of Suspended Sediments and Turbidity.
Dr. Shen is an AIT alumnus who completed his Master of Engineering program in Water Resources Engineering in 1969.
