Water Engineering and Management (WEM) student Ms. Pragya Pradhan shares her experience participating in regional training on “Snow data analysis in the Hindu Kush Himalaya Region using R and Google Earth Engine” organized by International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) from 23-27 August 2021. Pragya writes:

“I had a great, fruitful, informative experience from the 5 days of regional training provided by ICIMOD. This hands-on training from various experts helped me to enhance my knowledge related to cryosphere morphology, snow dynamics, availability of snow data and its processing using the R package and Google Earth Engine. This opportunity has provided me confidence in implementing the learnings in my current and future research works. Thank you to my advisor for recommending me to the training program. Also, I am grateful to all the trainers and ICIMOD.”

The regional training (virtual) program was provided to young researchers, students and early career scientists working on snow dynamics over the Hindu Kush Himalaya region. The training was focused on providing prior knowledge on snowpack energy balance, remote sensing of snow, and familiarity with data from the automatic weather station.

WEM congratulates Ms. Pradhan for successfully participating in the regional training program and wishes her good luck in her future endeavors.
