AIT Celebrates 141st Graduation Ceremony
Proud smiles and bright futures: The Class of 2024 commemorates their hard-earned success and the bonds they’ve formed
Asian Institute of Technology proudly announces the graduation of class of 2024 from its Water Engineering and Management program. These graduates are equipped with skills to address global water challenges, reflecting Asian Institute of Technology’s commitment to producing industry-ready professionals. Their achievement marks a significant milestone for Asian Institute of Technology and highlights their potential as future leaders in sustainable water management.
On 17 May 2024, the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) held its 141st Graduation Ceremony at the Robert B Bank Auditorium, AITCC on the AIT campus. A total of 249 students proudly wore their graduation robes as they received their degrees. The event celebrated the achievements and hard work of students from various fields and backgrounds. Notable speakers, including distinguished guests and faculty, gave motivational addresses, highlighting the significant influence of an AIT education on the global stage. Families and friends joined in the festivities, creating a memorable day filled with joy and pride.

The event showcased the outstanding accomplishments of students from the School of Engineering and Technology (SET), the School of Environment, Resources and Development (SERD), and the School of Management (SOM).
The ceremony commenced with an introduction by Prof. Nitin Kumar Tripathi, the Vice President for Academic Affairs. This was followed by an inspiring graduation message from AIT President, Prof. Kazuo Yamamoto, who congratulated the graduates and emphasized the importance of their contributions to society.AIT awarded an Honorary Doctor of Philosophy degree to H.E. Dr. Subin Pinkayan, former Foreign Minister of Thailand and former Chairman of the AIT Board of Trustees. Dr. Subin served as AIT Chairman from September 2013 to January 2020 and was a member of the first-ever graduating class of the institute in 1961.

The morning session featured remarks by H.E. Dr. Subin Pinkayan, Former Foreign Minister of Thailand and former Chairman of the AIT Board of Trustees. The distinguished graduation address was delivered by Mr. Cao Changlin, Executive Director of the Guangzhou Institute for Modern Industrial Development in the Greater Bay Area, China. Dr. Lu Jun Gang, representing the doctoral graduates, delivered remarks to the graduates. Dr. Harry Kasuma Aliwarga, CEO of UMG Group of Companies, Myanmar and an AIT prominent alumnus, reflected on the impact of his career growth in his speech. Mr. Kittisak Kasempanyavat, recognized as AIT’s most outstanding graduate from the Geotechnical and Earth Resource Engineering program, also delivered a motivating speech.
In the afternoon session, Dr. Atsuko Okuda, Regional Director of the International Telecommunication Union’s (ITU) Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, gave the distinguished graduation address. Dr. Arthit Champeecharoensuk, doctoral graduate, delivered remarks on the importance of research and innovation. Ms. Bhiramon Chuprapawan, founder and CEO of 4CARE Group, Thailand and an AIT prominent alumnus, shared her entrepreneurial experiences. The session concluded with Ms. Sushmita Satappa, recognized as AIT’s most outstanding graduate in the afternoon session, who spoke on the value of education.
