Coming from Nepal with a deep interest in hydrology and water resources, choosing AIT felt like the right step — and it turned out to be exactly that. The Water Engineering and Management program challenged me in ways I had not anticipated, blending a rigorous curriculum with a research culture that encourages you to ask harder questions rather than settle for easy answers. My thesis work became the heart of my time here — a process that tested my patience and sharpened my thinking in equal measure, guided by faculty who genuinely invested in my growth without ever making it feel prescriptive. The learning happens as much outside the classroom as inside it: through discussions with classmates from across Asia and beyond, through seminars that connected local water challenges to global conversations, and through friendships that formed quickly and deepened steadily. What I valued most was how the program bridges theory and application — coursework in water resources management, hydrological modeling, and climate change felt directly tied to real problems that matter across this region. That connection between academic depth and practical relevance, combined with a truly international research environment, pushed me to approach water issues with both rigor and broader perspective. Prominent faculty members who are experts in their fields provide a high-quality learning environment both in the classroom and on the field, which considerably supports the development of my academic and research abilities. I am grateful for having the opportunity to participate in exciting programs, including an internship at NTU, student assistantships, seminars, and internationally collaborative projects. Studying Water Engineering and Management at AIT has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my academic and professional journey. After completing my Civil Engineering degree in Nepal, working in the water supply sector for several years, and pursuing postgraduate studies in Canada, I wanted to further strengthen my knowledge and research skills in the water sector. AIT provided the perfect environment to do so. What I appreciated most was the strong research culture and the continuous guidance and support from faculty members throughout my studies. My external supervisor, Professor Sangam Shrestha from Water Engineering and Management (WEM), has been instrumental in guiding my research on modeling and forecasting seasonal fluctuations in river flow in the Lake Balkhash basin based on remote sensing. During my training at WEM, I had the best chance to gain knowledge from professors at AIT and made many friends. I am very thankful for the WEM team.

Studying in water engineering and management program was a valuable experience that helped me grow both academically and personally. I improved my English communication skills, gained strong technical knowledge, and developed problem-solving abilities through coursework and research. Working on my thesis was especially rewarding, as it taught me how to explore scientific literature, develop new ideas, think critically, and remain patient throughout the research process. AIT හි මිල කළ නොහැකි මූල්‍ය සහයෝගය නිසා මගේ ශාස්ත්‍රපති උපාධිය සාර්ථකව සම්පූර්ණ කිරීමට සහ හොඳම GPA සහ හොඳම නිබන්ධනය සඳහා සම්මාන ලබා ගැනීමට මට හැකි විය. මෙම අත්දැකීම ඇමරිකා එක්සත් ජනපදයේ University of Central Florida හි ආචාර්ය උපාධි අපේක්ෂකයෙකු ලෙස මා තෝරා ගැනීමට එක් ප්‍රධාන හේතුවක් විය.
