Divakar Thapaliya, a Kurita Scholarship awardee (August 2018) in WEM, writes about his internship experience in Japan!
It’s a pleasure to have successfully completed my one-week internship in Japan which was organized by Kurita Water and Environment Foundation (KWEF) dated 16 – 21 June 2019. The main motivation of my internship was to enhance my existing knowledge of water related facility and services with latest technology in line with well fitted administration and technical organization. During my internship, I visited Sunamachi Sewage Treatment Plant, Kurita Analysis Service Co. Ltd., Kurita Water Industries Ltd. (Hakusan Sub-Branch), and Kurita Water Industries Ltd. Out of these, I found the research work by Kurita Water Industries Ltd. fascinating and innovative as I got to know various procedures of treating different industrial and domestic pollutants. Also, the research center is currently focusing in developing the size friendly urine treatment system for International Space Station (ISS). Researchers from varied background gave their presentation on various topics related to water that helped me to broaden my understanding in R&D. Apart from the technical session, I feel lucky enough to explore some historical and cultural places of Tokyo.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude towards the Kurita Water Foundation and Water Engineering and Management (WEM), Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) for providing me this opportunity.
