Dr. Ho Huu Loc, Assistant Professor, Water Engineering and Management (WEM) program at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), delivered a presentation entitled “Nature Based Solutions for Sustainable Development of the Global South: A Short Review for Urban Water Management & Future Outlooks” at the seminar series organized by the Earth Observatory of Singapore (EOS) and Asian School of the Environment (ASE) – Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore on October 4, 2022 (hybrid mode).
Dr. Loc, in his presentation, stressed the necessity of Nature Based Solutions (NBS) in the global South with relevant examples of its application from China, Thailand, Africa and South America. He also highlighted Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters (ABC Waters) projects in Singapore and some pilot NBS projects in Thailand and Malaysia and suggested merging North with South to enhance the functions of NBS in the global South. Additionally, Dr. Loc discussed the future outlooks of NBS in the global South and introduced the seminar participants to various NBS and other relevant projects implemented by WEM/AIT.
In his closing remarks, Dr. Ho Huu Loc extended sincere thanks to all the participants for the active discussion and for providing their valuable input.
