The Water Engineering and Management (WEM) department hosted two seminars on February 15, 2024. In the first seminar, Kittiphon Boonma (Ph.D.) introduced PyAEZ, a Python package designed to streamline land resources appraisal using computational routines related to the Agro-Ecological Zones (AEZ) framework. This tool offers a user-friendly interface for generating comprehensive agro-climatic and crop-specific information essential for planning and decision-making in agriculture.
The second seminar, led by Aprilia Nidia Rinasti (B.Sc., M.MPA), focused on utilizing remote sensing and GIS techniques to monitor plastic pollution in rivers. Through innovative spatial analysis and hydrological modeling, Aprilia demonstrated how earth observation imagery and digital elevation models can assess plastic leakage into rivers and guide effective riverine management strategies. Both sessions underscored WEM’s commitment to advancing sustainable solutions for water and environmental challenges.
