I am staying in Copenhagen, Denmark for from October 2019 for an internship program with the Danish Hydraulic Institute (DHI DK A/S). I will be staying for a total of 6 months here and will be involved in ongoing research and development activities at DHI within urban water management, specifically in activities on forecasting storm-and wastewater flows in urban drainage systems. The work consists of investigating the use of rainfall products from radar to improve forecasts of water levels, flows and sewer overflow in the drainage system, and inflow to wastewater treatment plants. This research work will form part of my master thesis at WEM/AIT.
As I am here in DHI Hørsholm Denmark (https://www.dhigroup.com), the headquarter and software development center of DHI Group (https://www.mikepoweredbydhi.com), I have a very amazing time to learn from the world expert with second-to-none knowledge and experience in water and environment. With opportunities to adapt myself to freedom-to-learn environment, participate in real field visits in wastewater treatment plant and DHI’s project sites, attend seminars and presentations from the top experts in water, build and strengthen the network among the young talent experts across Europe, enhance and introduce myself toward the digital era of water applications (AI in water, MPC, RTC, Digital Twin), I find this opportunity as the main force to strive my future career toward excellent in water field.
With this golden opportunity, I would like to acknowledge the support from family, Cambodian seniors, WEM/AIT faculty and staff, DHI and BLUE team Denmark. My special thanks to Prof. Mukand S. Babel (thesis chair advisor, WEM), Dr. Henrik Madsen (thesis advisor, DHI), Prof. Sangam Shrestha (academic advisor, WEM) for their tremendous support during my master program period in Thailand and internship period in Denmark. I also acknowledge the supports from every individual, countless to mention, to make this opportunity happened.
