Pathum Thani, 4 Sept 2026 – The Water Engineering and Management (WEM) program warmly welcomed all new incoming members of the WEM family with a joyous and heartwarming dinner party at Korea House on AIT main campus. This is a long-time tradition of the WEM program, which is one of the longest running programs and among the most popular programs offered at the Asian Institute of Technology. The event was expertly organized by the senior students, led by Ms. Mayla Zahra Nugraha and Mr. Nirmal Burlakoti, the reigning Ms. and Mr. WEM 2025, and professionally hosted by Mr. Prajwal Shrestha, our PhD student representative.
The party began with the heartening messages of encouragement and in-depth advice from all present WEM faculty members. Our teachers strongly encouraged our new students to build lasting connections with all seniors, to make the best of their time with the WEM family, and explore all opportunities coming their way.
This was followed by a fun break-the-ice activities, expertly hosted by Mr. Prajwal Shrestha, a senior PhD student. The new students got a chance to showcase their talents, share their personalities, and most importantly, get to know their batchmates and seniors. Special thanks to Mr. Njabulo Mavuso, Ms. Farzeen Khan and the August 2026 team for the impressive and joyous musical and dance performances.
The evening continued with a fierce an exciting competition for the titles of Mr. and Ms. WEM 2026. After extended deliberation and contemplation by the chief judges, Ms. Yanee Sornkaew, WEM senior administrator, and Dr. Dibesh Khadka, WEM Senior lab supervisor, the crowns were awarded to Mr. Njabula Mavuso, a Master’s student from Eswatini, and Ms. Farzeen Khan, a Master’s student from Pakistan. The crowning moment was led by Mr. Burlakoti, and Ms. Nugraha, with gifts to the new WEM representatives presented by Dr. Natthachet Tangdamrongsub, WEM Academic Program Chair.

All new students were then presented with small tokens of appreciation and best wishes for their coming year.
The evening ended with a convivial dinner, shared conversations among the attendees, and most notably, a great new experience added to the history book of the Water Engineering and Management program.
To our new students, you are the latest members of this great family, and we all believe that you will continue our success story with your own excellence and achievements!
